Past GT essay - In some countries, children start school at the age of seven, so they could have more time to build relationship with their parents. In other countries, children start school when they are 4 years old. Do the advantages outweigh its disadvantages?

Some people believe that the ages of six or seven are the best years for young people to commence educational studies. However, enrolling students in school at an earlier age has more advantages. A number of arguments surround my opinion.

The first advantage is the head start in learning that students who begin their studies at a younger age will experience. It is a well-known fact that the younger an Individual is the easier It is for him or her to acquire knowledge and Information. A young student is therefore in the best possible position to learn new Information and this will put them in a much stronger position for success in later schooling years.

Another advantage with students beginning their school studies earlier involves their use of time. Unfortunately, many children waste a considerable amount of time at home. Their activities are often counter-productive 'time-fillers' such as watching cartoons on TV and Video and other general time wasting activities at home. On the other hand, when students attend school, they are purposefully engaged in activities that stimulate their minds and encourage them to develop and improve.

Students who go to school at an earlier age give themselves the best possible chance to discover their natural talents. They may be good at science or mathematics or music and by starting school earlier, they are able to explore and build a stronger foundation upon these skills than if they had waited until age six or seven. They can build upon the successes enjoyed at an early age.

Those who oppose sending children to school early think that childhood comes only once and that children should not be burdened with books at a younger age. They feel that children need to spend time with parents and acquire some social knowledge before they start school.

To sum up, I pen down saying that the merits of going to school early outweigh the demerits.
